Tax abatements and faulty geothermal units at the new LEC were main topics at a short meeting of the Greene County board of supervisors on Aug. 23.
Pam Olerich, real estate clerk, listed seven tax exempt properties now requiring tax abatement. Total abatement comes to $2,338. Legal descriptions of the seven properties can be found under the meetings and agendas tab.
The board unanimously approved the abatements.
Sheriff Jack Williams told the board seven of 15 geothermal units at the new LEC located west of the municipal cemetery are not working. Williams said he will be getting cost quotes for repair.
Engineer Wade Weiss reported plans for setting a new walk bridge near Paton today after preparation work was done last week. He also discussed shouldering work to be done around the county.
Supervisor Pete Bardole announced the “big fish” is the winner of the sculpture contest sponsored by Jefferson Matters: Main Street Tower View Team. The public has been casting votes through the summer to decide which of the four sculptures displayed on the south side of the courthouse is the public favorite.
The chosen sculpture will remain in position through April 30, 2022, and then removed. The other three sculptures will be removed by Nov. 1 of this year.
